I think you'll be happy with what you purchased. Sonar
was orginally built for the PC platform with "midi" in
mind (as opposed to audio recording).

But, the truth is any of the systems suggested would
work with the right amount of dedication. They've all
borrowed the best features from each other, so they're
all pretty similar. And no matter what you buy, you'll
get you're share of frustraions.

You might want to pick up the book "Sonar Power" to
flatten your learning curve.
