[Fmpro] OT: is the Wilhelm Scream public domain?

Sorry for the off topic post, but I bet there's someone on this list that
knows the answer.  Myself and a group of friends are putting the finishing
touches on a kids album.  We would like to use the infamous Wilhelm Scream (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wilhelm_scream), but don't want to limit the
publishing potential of this song in any way by breaking a copyright.

Near as I've been able to tell, it's was first used in 1950, but no one is
claiming copyright.  It has literally been used in hundreds of films, TV
shows and video games since then.

Does anyone know if we need to secure a license to use it?  And, if so, who
we would contact?  Something tells me it's not Harry Fox.

Any advice would be appreciated.
