From what I gather, the OS of choice to run the new GigaStudio 4 is
Windows XP Professional x64 edition. You will want to go 64 bit in order
to get the ram usage that you have dreamed of. In thinking about this, I
am realizing that there are a number of disasters in terms of drivers
and support software. My giga machines are good on the computer side,
and they are both dedicated to running gigastudio so I have the luxury
of only having a few apps to worry about in upgrading to 64 bit:
1. GS software, which is built for 64 bit
2. MIDIOverLAN - which currently does NOT support 64 bit OS, the
alternative that I found is ipMidi but its about 350 bucks I have
invested in MoL so I am checking with MusicLab as to when they will have
a 64 bit version...
3. Sound Card drivers - I have RME HDSP 9652s on both my giga machines
and RME is awesome enough to be prepared
I think thats it for my setup, but just a note to remind you guys to
start thinking about how ready your boxes are for GS4, you know that
even a teeeeny bit off from tascam reccomendations and it will blow to
smithereens...

you say will be an acceptance of the drift to the coming human hell." -
