Human perception regardless of how flawed and imperfect is all we've got.
Physics is just another human construct after all. As far as trippy - what
differentiates living from non-living matter? Even what may appear to our
eyes to be a lifeless object like a rock or a chair is essentially 'alive'
with thousands of moving electrons and protons on the subatomic plane.
As far as the more simplistic analog of reality provided by our five senses
it boils down to just electrical impulses moving through our brains. Does
that mean that because the sensory data we receive is limited by its human
carrier it doesn't have a corresponding origin in a reality outside of human
consciousness? Something's making the wires hum.
The funny side of this is about the philosopher who questions whether life
is just a dream he/she's having - and then he gets run over by a truck.
