[Fmpro] navigating political waters

Hello all,
I've been in a working relationship for some time that has been
working well, but as the business changes and gets harder, things
have felt less stable and money has gone down. I've been trying to
figure out how bring up the idea that I need to "put more legs under
the table" and expand my income potential without in anyway upsetting
the dynamic that is in place. There's a feeling that if I even bring
up the idea, it will put a fine little crack in the foundation of our
nearyly 11-year working relationship. So basically, I'm operating
out of fear, which feels ridiculous. It's the old "don't rock the
boat" syndrome. Though I'm sure someone will somehow find a reason
to bash me, I'm just looking for any advice. I would like to keep
things working as they are, but add any other work options that may
look promising, and to be fair, not in direct competition.
Thoughts?
Todd
p.s. - I suppose I do "lurk" most of the time, but I'm trying to see
how much work I can squeeze in when I'm not watching my two little
dudes. But hey, I did make the Billy Hale wall-o-quotes, so I got
that goin' for me.
