[Brian Phraner]

My name is Brian Scott Phraner and I'm one of the 150 new subscribers who just joined in. I appreciate this opportunity to join in the discussions.
 
Here's some brief info to introduce myself to you all:

I live in Seattle.  I'm currently working toward being a full time film and symphonic composer.  As I pursue that I have a great day job as manager of museum technology at the Experience Music Project and Science Fiction Museum (EMP|SFM) in Seattle.  I come from a background of progressive rock music (a founding member of a band called PHREEWORLD), but about 4 years ago I left that to pursue my current ambition.  Since then I've written my first Symphony "Vociferous Thesis", a Suite for Electronic Orchestra "The Universe Suite" and my 1st Concerto for Piano and Orchestra (makes me wish I could play piano!).  

Last summer I finished 2 years at the Pacific Northwest Film Score Program, an incredible program taught by Hummie Mann in Seattle.   Now I'm currently working on scoring my first film, a 12 minute horror film by independent film maker Scott Golberg in New York.  It will be released next month.  I am also a board member of The Seattle Composers Alliance (celebrating it's 10 year), a non-profit group for bringing together composers in our area.

I've got a long way to go and a lot to learn but I'm sure I'll be able to contribute to the discussion and learn much from it return.  Please feel free to listen to my compositions along with some practice film score cues at http://www.myspace.com/brianscottphraner
