Same here in Montreal so this whole conversation about Italy and it's
great composer's is very welcome. John's recollection of his trip to
Italy reminded me of mine in 2002 when while passing through Sienna i
actually dragged my wife to Accademia Musicale Chigiana where
Morricone often gave summer Masterclasses in Film Composition. We
were greeted by two ladies in a very small office, they told us that
"Il Maestro era malato" (The Master was sick) and that Luis Bacalov
was replacing him that summer. I think Bacalov is doing the Master
class next summer too.

It really was an unexpected reception, the 2 ladies were so relaxed
that they gave us the impression that, had Morricone been there, he
would have met us...Since i'm not a 20 year old kid and with the
language barrier maybe they thought i was a friend visiting = ; o )

Either that or Italians are really relaxed people.

Best,

Claude
