" [Bach] was known only in elite musical circles
until the nineteenth century when he was resurrected."

Those "elite musical circles" finally circumvented the Catholic
church, well after his death. I believe it was the 18th century,
when Bach's well-tempered clavier, and his balance of harmonic and
melodic tonality finally caught on. I could be off by half a
century; I'm not a good historian.

Not to disrespect to Morricone, Herrmann, Vic Flick, et. al.
whose melodies and rhythms will be equally remembered and revered
centuries from now.
