"Cause publishers may own the publishing for songs written by any number of writers with various PROs, and most PROs require that the percentage of the song their writer has composed be represented by that writer's PRO.
And Les... why the heck do you have to be so danged confrontative? Can't you just ask a simple question without being so snarky? Sheesh.
A partial answer to the Q RE multiple affiliations -- From BMI's own site: "...you cannot join BMI if you are currently affiliated with another performing right society... You may only have a contract with one performing right organization (PRO) at a time..."
