[Fmpro] SCL/VSL se?

does anyone on this list have VSL installed on a Logic
8 system? How about VSL Special Edition? If so, how's
it working for you? My tech told me VSL enables

I have the VSL Special Edition.  It sounds fabulous but there are latency
issues I haven't been able to resolve.  Latency issues can be common for
slower machines - that's not the case for me - I have a fast machine and the
VSL loaded to an external hard drive, but still have problems - I've done
everything I can short of buying a second computer to resolve it - still no
luck.  I use it at this point for overlaying strings and percussion where
needed.  But due to my inexperience I haven't had a lot of luck creating a
piece from scratch using solely the VSL.  The tones on it however are
phenomenal.  Your tech might be right but I'm not aware of anything that
would increase the rate of work flow.  Remember too that the samples on VSL
are intentionally done dry - so your reverb is what makes it come alive.

I'd like to thank Mark Northam for his detailed post
about his experiences with SCL.  My SCL membership
represents I had enough credits to join, period.
Having attended SCL meetings before joining, there was
no expectation of composer advocacy on my part.

Does anyone on this list have VSL installed on a Logic
8 system? How about VSL Special Edition? If so, how's
it working for you? My tech told me VSL enables
quicker workflow to the point of being worth the
investment, and some articulations can be multi-ed by
key pressure.
