It took over a year of asking to get an answer, but ASCAP finally told
me not to expect payments for local spots. I argued with that that is
was music on the air and I didn't see a reason I shouldn't be getting
something for it, and they wouldn't discuss it any further. What else
could I have done here?

So...

A jingle I wrote for the local Ford dealer over 15 years ago is still
running from time to time

1. Nothing from ASCAP. They told me so.

2. No residuals, because I wouldn't have gotten to even write the thing
in the first place if I had demanded any.

I'm my own publisher. If I had approached the agency with a sync license
to start with, that would have been the last time I ever scored anything
for anybody in town.

As previously stated, it's the damn deep south. I made sure I got what I
needed up front because I knew there wasn't a single dime ever coming
later. What do you expect?
