[Fmpro] AFM dues and other questions

Hi David,

actually the UDA stands for Union des Artistes and it has nothing to  
do with musicians. They represent actors like SAG in the US and  
singers. They are actually the equivalent of ACTRA in the ROC(Rest of  
Canada as we call it ; ) In Quebec i am a member of Local 406 of the  
AFM(Montreal).

Yes UDA is finicky but i actually did some work where i was playing  
piano on camera in a movie and thus was represented by UDA as a  
permissioneer. I made more money just for showing my face 5 seconds  
in the movie than i made for playing on 6 sessions for the actual  
recording of the movie's music....And this was just a low budget  
documentary...Got paid very well and very quickly. I guess UDA and  
the likes are though to deal with but if you're a member you probably  
live in a bigger house in a better neighboorhood  than AFM members...  
= ; o ) Plus they have big fat pension plans and vacations(4%)...
