Bob (can I call you Bob?), funny you should bring up this particular
standard. I happen to adore the rendition - pure gold - of the song that's
on the Astrud Gilberto album I HAVEN'T GOT ANYTHING BETTER TO DO -
arrangements by Al Gorgoni. The old LP was on Verve, but I have it as a 1998
Japanese CD through Polydor. This same disc has a subtle, yet deliciously
complex arrangement of Dori Caymmi's (yet another unsung major talent) THE
SEA IS MY SOUL: I REMEMBER WHEN. Just gorgeous stuff. I'd die without music.
(Been a Gilberto/Bossa Nova fan since I was a kid. Jobim was the South
American Gershwin - this is a fact and it should be printed on tee-shirts as
an educational tool.) - JohnB
