Can someone please list down the exact process of what they do as an
independant music composer and publisher to fill out appropriate forms? For
me from what I am learning it seems the process is:
1. file copyright with LOC
2. licenses with client/producer (sync, master, deal contract)
3. Making sure you are on the cue sheets (done by the production company,
how do I do them when I am the production company - i.e. I am working
directly for a client, say a jingle for a car dealer for a regional radio
and tv ad)
4. filing your work with ascap catalog
5. filing your work with EMI for european royalty??
what about mechanicals? that is in the deal contract only?
what about overseas royalty? that is collected by EMI? Or do I join SACEM or
something?
what about re-titled work with libraries? They will take care of all the
filings of everything? or do i still need to file at ascap?
What else do you need to do? Other places to register? Please show me, I
want to get this *(#$@ figured out once and for all. I have 6 years of
backfiring and I really want to do this avec sang et furie
Thank You!
