Yeah Ted... Brasil is full of amazing tallent. It has
loads of new music, a world craddle for Jazz, Bossa
Nova and some incredible creatives. People are
more open minded when it comes to classical and
modern and finding a hang out with a bunch or writers,
musicians having a beer is a breeze away.
This is the good side. On the other side, musicians are
still discriminated, rarely ever supported by the government
and living in a city like Sao Paulo is barely an option
due to the escalating violence, corruption and poverty.
Up north, in a place like Bahia things do change.
The beautiful setting seems to bring spirituality to most
people involved and there are music events literally year round.

I traded it all for the same reason (no support, discrimination)
23 years ago and came to NY which back then was a
haven for music and arts, more particularly in the Pop Rock scene.
Now the rock scene is dead and most new bands suck.

Thank God for Classical music. As a film composer I do miss
the group of people to hang out with and spend most of my time in
solitary confinement.

The only few film events involving music
around here are filled with first time dv cam filmmakers and
people as deep as a desert dish.

I guess Mozart made it to the hang outs, however, remember Beethoven
who died alone, deaf and pissed off at the world. Lives can go both ways,
and most of the time, not by choice...

I just wish someone invented
a teleportation device so I could just scoop up from a place to another...
I must be homesick or something...
