[Fmpro] Brazil and Music

See if you can hook up with Phil Glass and/or Steven Reich. BAM in
Brooklyn has a lot of events and you can get involved with the people
there. NY has a film commission which gives money to lots of film
makers so a lot of music is needed. The only other state with as much
composer support is Montana. About teleporting: I spent some time
with the so-called "jet set." These are the rich who travel around
the world going to music, art and theater events. I couldn't keep up
with them and found most of what they did completely boring. It's
just party after party; fun but easy to get sucked into where you get
nothing done. Pretty soon I figured out I was the latest "toy" for
them. I would never be part because I didn't have a $5M per year
trust and also wanted to create works. Every year there are festivals
they go to. One is in Brazil and is the largest jazz festival in the
world. A lot are Bull Fight groupies and that whole scene is really
alien to Americans. But getting representation at festivals is
important. Actually what people want now is the Fringe. Even in
Edinburgh the fringe is where exciting new things are happening.
Also, fringe parts of festivals are finally getting funded decently
so they can bring in five or six good chamber groups and still have
some money for travel and expenses of other groups.
