"One guy was complaining about the worsening conditions at the NMSO, when he came by to drop off his keys so we could watch his house, (which he owns), while he went away for a ski weekend in his new SUV. Hard to get sympathy from pro jazz musicians in here in NM.

I guess my point here has something to do with the theory of relativity... World keep turning..." Mark McKee

I think that is a salient point, and part of my theory about why LA musicians are so seemingly apathetic. Materially, they are quite well off by historical standards. It is definitely not the US of the '20's and '30's. In the USSR when nothing much was available to buy the gov't. made sure vodka was always available, especially since religion wasn't (the opiate of the masses); today in the US we have more gadgets and consumer stuff by far than any people in history, and one could argue that they have become more passive, more herd-like as a result. Not that they spend any less time complaining! :-))
