BTW: and why not put music to silent movies? And to movie clips with  
the audio off? It is a good exercise. I used to do that with my  
friends in the past with 16mm movies we rented. In the case of  
talkies you just have to imagine the dialogs :) The first soundtrack  
I scored was to a film a could barely see in an old B&W videotape  
machine with a tiny 5 in. monitor. Life can be hard sometimes but if  
you have the enthousiasm nothing stops you.
