[Fmpro] Anyone using the QLSO ?????

Hi Chris,
It is a cool package and very affordable even for the full pop. I wrestled
with getting that or the VSL Special Edition and Ensemble. Ultimately it
came down, for me anyway with limited resources, to abundance and quality,
or enough for now and extraordinary quality. As you know I went for the VSL
but it was a tough decision. Hopefully by this Friday I'll get things
going. Got my Events 6s today; that was another tough decision having had
all the input here but it was much appreciated. I finally chose the Events
because there were less unknown factors because I've been using in the paid
studio I sometimes use, and I knew they were comparable to some of the
quality ones mentioned here in sound and price.
Anyway, QLSO is cool. I will say, you sure have a lot of gear! How decide
which to use? You don't know this but it was you who introduced me to VSL
:-)
Thank you very much!

They are cool!
Gold to platinum difference is (to my knowledge) only more mic
positions (ie close mic'ing of all the instruments) so you can mix
them with other libraries better or create your own reverb rooms
I have EWQLSO Gold XP Pro and I think its pretty awesome. It pales in
comparison to VSL full pro edition in terms of amount of different
articulations and instruments, but its definitely a good buy
One really nice feature is that it is recorded in the hall and panned
according. So without panning anything, reverbing anything, you should
get a very decent live full orchestra sound. It works best if you dont
adjust volumes at all as they are meant to be fixed as they are, just
work with velocity
the negative of that feature is that it is kind of "in a box" and you
are left working with each instrument the way EW intended you to and
less options for creating your own mix that sounds good. Also since
they are recorded wet, its very hard to mix EW libraries together with
other libraries and make it sound "real"
