David,
The two cues that do not have vocals during the performances on screen would
be coded as Background Instrumental (BI). Regardless of how ASCAP weights
them, they are what they are. I don't fill out a cue sheet they way ASCAP
"re-categorizes" the true performance of the cue.
Are these cues really "source cues" or "underscore?" Are the "played" from
a source, i.e. radio, TV, iPod, etc.? If they are underscore, then other
coding options could be opening credits (Main Titles (MT)) or closing
credits (End Titles (ET)) or as a feature performance. Also, are all of the
songwriters and publishers affiliated with ASCAP?
As for the rest of the cue sheet where these three source cues are
concerned, do you have all of the copyright ownership information? I just
see so many cue sheets that are not filled out properly. I'm not sure what
your experience is with cue sheets so I'm just curious.
