Synesthesia.  Perceiving sound as color, or taste, or any other  
sensory experience.  I know at least one person - who asked not to be  
named here - that is blessed with the condition.  I read that Rimsky- 
Korsakov had it.  Imagine "Flight of the Bumblebee" in living color!
