>>>Latest Rant: "Where are the Distinctive Voices in scoring?" <<<

I'm surprised to find the phrase "courageous and profoundly expressive artist" and the name "John Williams" in the same sentence. At least now I feel better about never having pursued even a rudimentary musical education. John Williams has never, to my knowledge written a single passage that was:

a: courageous
b: profoundly expressive
c: not instantly identified by this musical illiterate as a John Williams piece.

I guess I need to bone up on my terminology. Here I was thinking courageous and profoundly expressive would be something more along the lines of Miles Davis. Have I for decades now misunderstood the definition of "schlock"?
I am forced to re-examine my core musical beliefs! But I'm willing to change and grow, so I'll play along by asking:

Did you forget to include Andrew Lloyd Weber???
